wood casting

How marvelous are these stunning pieces by Israeli designer Hilla Shamia!
Aluminum and wood are joined together with the wood casting process; using the whole tree trunk, the molten aluminum is poured directly onto the wood, the surface is burned and darkened. It is a great way to merge two materials and create something completely unique.
Obviously, each piece differs from each other, depending on the various wood types and the leakage of the aluminum through the wood cracks.
So inspiring!!!

Joan's on Third

Joan's on Third is a cafe and gourmet food market founded by Joan McNamara in 1990s, located in LA.
I think its beautiful, and I would be very happy if we had something similar here in Tbilisi.
There are so many things and places that this city still lacks.
